Just a little late to the dance

I'm **this close** to finishing my UFO which I hope to share later this week plus I have a GREAT new knitting product I found that I want to review here because it's THAT GOOD! :)

Until then I give you.....

Six weird things about me

1- I'm a pretty down to earth thinker, not much into fantasy and such yet I am VERY superstitious! One of my daily superstitions is that I always put on my right shoe first, no matter what, for good luck. I have a large collection of good luck charms and I'm especially fond of "ethnic" good luck charms like the
Hamsa (Hebrew and Islamic) the Evil Eye (Greek and Turkish) and the Azabache (Cuban) . Got any favorites you'd like to share?

2- I've never tasted pecan pie! I love pecans, I most definitely have a sweet tooth and the pie looks good but I've just never had the occasion to try it. I always think "I should try that" when I see it but I never do, heh!

3- My family tells me that when I was 3 years old at a wedding I walked up to the band and asked them to "play the
Pachanga" so I could dance!! Today, I wouldn't know a Pachanga if it bit me on the heiney.

4- I was born without tear ducts. When I was a baby I cried but never shed an actual tear. When my Mom mentioned this my pediatrician noticed that my tear ducts were completely closed and he had to surgically open them. Oh, what a floodgate he opened :)

5- I absolutely HATE having my feet touched! I had one professional pedicure in my life and was "chemically" prepared for that one (god bless xanax!) The thought of having someone suck on my toes gives me the uber screaming meemies just THINKING about it!

6- Growing up I wanted to be an ichthyologist. I have no idea where I heard about this as a career choice but it's what I wanted until about age 13. I feel very connected to all things oceanic and believe I might have been a fish in a past life.

So there you have it, a little gilmpse into the weirdness of this fluffy knitter.
Have fun and I'll be back really soon with my UFO!

Ok, for those in P-Man withdrawl, here ya go!

See ya soon!

Hamsa hands are one of my favorite items. I have jewelry, tiles kitchen trivit), and embroidery of the Hamsa hand. Everything does make you a little odd;-)

LOVE the P-man action shot. If you're ever in IL, I'll bake you a pecan pie myself. Not just any pecan pie will do, you need good pecan pie.

Interesting! I also always put my right shoe on first ... but just out of habit, I think.
No. 4 is intriguing! You are the first person I knew having a closed tear duct!

Of all the "6 Weird Things" I've seen, yours tops the list!

No pecan pie? Darlin', that must be rectified! Slightly warm, sweet nutty goodness.

And what, pray tell, is Pumpkin about to do to that tape measure? Naughty kitty man!

Like Angie said, make sure you try an *excellent* pecan pie - it will be unforgettable :)

I looooooove pecan pie, but only in small doses. It is very rich. But if you're going to have it, make sure it's from a VERY good bakery, or homemade. And then try some chocolate pecan pie. You might die from the pleasure, but what a way to go. :)

You have to try pecan pie. Especially the kind with bourbon in it - yummy! I love how P-Man is liking his nose it is way to cute.

Umm, I definitely think you might need to rectify the pecan pie issue. Especially with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream, yum, yum. I don't have a problem with my feet being touched, but try being married (ex-hubby) that had a foot fetish. I'm sure you're glad you never had to worry about that one! :-)

Honey, you're southern. Eating Pecan Pie is a requirement of membership. Get yourself some of the blessed pecan in pie formation.

If you know a grandmotherly type, they often make the best pecan pies. And coming from someone who has a MIL from Minnesota (who is usually a good cook), please accept this sage advice. The Minnesota pecan pie should be avoided. Thoroughly avoided. It is disappointing to the point of disturbing.

I'm right there with you as far as feet go. I love doggie feet but human feet -- yech.

Mm, definitely try a good pecan pie; my family makes really good ones!

That P-man shot has to be one of the best!

I didn't try pecan pie until I was well into my 20's. I'm a *huge* fan of pumpkin anything and since pecan pies are around at the same time I just always chose the pumpkin :-)

Thanks for sharing your weird things!

Thank you for commenting on my felted mittens. Ichthyology! I studied that for my minor in fisheries (my major was Wildlife Biology). P-Man is adorable.

Oh my, P-Man, you are soooo silly!

I can't believe you've never tried pecan pie! You absolutely must get yourself some.

Come on over, girl. My Tarheel husband makes the best pecan pie in the world.
I used to put on one sock, then that shoe, then the same on the other foot. I made myself stop doing it because it is just too weird.

Kimberly said...

Those aren't too weird, but you must have some pecan pie. I'm not at all a fan of nuts but give me pecan pie and I melt. :-)

You have not lived until you have had pecan pie! It was a staple in my family growing up and I was often caught pulling the lovely pecans off the top...big no-no.

I enjoyed all your 'wierdness', especially the xanax pedicure!

Hey, chica, I'm told the hamsa is actually earlier than the semites (both hebrew and arabic) and is the hand of a Sumerian goddess. Not sure which one nor if this is so. I wear one, too.

Don't like crickets ;) Ooo! I got see the P-Man at his cutest again!

A very delayed comment (better late than never): you must try pecan pie and you must try it now! I just finished reading your post on grits (mmmm... grits) and cannot believe that your southern tastebuds haven't tried pecan pie yet! I don't get it often in New York, but having been in Texas for the past week, I filled up on more than my fair share. I would have saved some for you had I known that you've not yet indulged. You must!
