Uglies, Pretties and a Cutie

definitely not an ugly, Pumpkin's peeping out from his favorite windowsill to thank you for all the kind comments about his kitty angel brother, Jaxon.

Now for the uglies!

Remember the ugly black, gray and brown Sockotta socks I was working on for FK Dad's Day? Well here they are, done with time to spare and whatta ya know? they're not so ugly! Actually, FK Dad will LOVE these comfy cotton blend socks!

And now, because I CAN, a close up! Squee!!!!

Specs:

Mistake Stitch Rib - my own pattern, size #1 (2.5 mm) 40" addi turbo, magic loop method, yo short row heel with mini-gusset.

Plymouth Sockotta cotton/wool blend (I heart this yarn!!)

I predict these *ugly* socks will become one of FK Dad's favorites! Can't wait for Father's Day!

Now on to the pretties!!!

When you're fluffy, it's sometimes hard to find anything socks that fit so I try to knit my fluffy friends socks every year.

These shockers should keep even the fluffiest of feet cozy and easy to find in the snow all winter long! hehehe....but to me, one of the best things about socks is you can really go crazy and knit outside your your friend's comfort zone. See?

This is another one of my favorite yarns! Paton's Kroy.....it's a bit heavier than fingering weight, knits like buttah, is tough and hardwearing yet soft, soft, soft! And CHEAP!! Only problem is the colors are, shall we say, an acquired taste! There used to be some nice bright solids like orange, pink, and green but on checking the Paton's website, it seems those are discontinued. It's a real shame cause this is some great sock yarn! Snatch it up if you can find it!

Specs:

Ridged Feather pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch size #1 (2.5 mm) 40" addi turbos, magic loop method, yo short row heel with mini-gusset

Paton's Kroy 4 ply sock yarn, Fancy Free colorway, slightly more than 2 skanks (I like this so much I'm making footies for myself with the leftovers!)

Again, because a good digi camera is a joy forever, a close up of the stitch pattern.....WOOT!!

Next up, the *really* pretties!

Look what arrived at Casa de Fluffy Deb this week....

Some gorgeous hand made, designer earrings from
Twisted Lily Designs!!

Stunning silver earrings with Moss Agate briolettes and Tri-Colored Tourmaline Beads

Have a closer look!

Aren't they lovely? And one of a kind, made just for me too! Go visit Heather over at Twisted Lily Designs and check out her wonderful jewelry, you won't be sorry!

And now as promised, a cutie! In honor of the holiday weekend, it's a TWO P-Man Picture Post!! This is one of my favorite P-Man pics....he's showing you his meatloaf impression :)

To those that celebrate, Happy Memorial Day and here's to a weekend full of good friends, sunshine and lots of knitting water for everyone!!

Wow, Love the socks! I have some Patons Kroy that I haven't tried yet, now I will just HAVE to make it my next knit! I have some pretty green variegated and blue variegated I believe. I hope you and PMan have a great weekend :)

The jewelry from Heather is beautiful! And of course, so is P-Man.

That cat just kills me; it's like he knows how handsome he is.
Socks are cute, even the "ugly" ones.
Those earrings are so lovely. Maybe I could meet the UPS guy up the road so hubby wouldn't know I ordered them. Of course if I started meeting the UPS guy in strange places, the neighbors would probably start to talk.

You should still be able to find some of the bright colored solid Kroy at Herrschners.com. That's where I found mine!

That last image is just the best image of p-man yet - yea for that camera (and the operator)!

I think the Sockotta socks really came out pretty darn good and not ugly at all, but I can see why it wasn't your favorite color to knit with - it lacks your usual sunny panache! I love the color of the Paton socks, and don't know if I would pick it for me as I don't wear too much pink, but I would definitely like to see the color working up on the needles. The P-man looks as handsome as always. Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Debi, everything you've shown in cute. Not a ugly in the bunch! I really heart those earrings, too.

All the best this holiday weekend to you and yours. Extra scruffles to Pumpkin.

P-Man is cute (as always).
You're dad's socks are quite cool (if somber).
The pink socks are so cool it's untrue!

great looking socks! i have a couple balls of sockotta in the stash and i keep putting it down, worrying that the cotton will let them get stretched out. but a recommendation from you might be all i need to get going on them again.

ps - love the double p-man shots in this post. isabella and i thank you ;)

I like the "ugly" socks as well as the "pretty" ones. I mean, the pretty ones are pink after all.

Pumpkin is adorable as usual.

Beauuuuutiful socks, I like dad's socks, but I have a habit of wearing black alot. I love the pattern on the pink ones you have the gifted hands Deb. My cat Linus saw P-Man's photos and he really gave it to me for not putting him out there. Maybe P-Man can explain how dogging it is to pose for all those shots.

Love both pairs of socks. I've come to the conclusion that part of the reason that socks are so addicting to knit is that you can truly go wild. Even the most conservative person (well, except my husband!) will put the wildest socks on their feet. I love wearing nice slacks and tailored blazer to work with my wild socks! Any pattern in mind for the St. Ives yet?

Beautiful earrings, I just know you're going to enjoy wearing those! And those socks - WOW! Love the pinks, especially, but like you, I like the pinks, purples, and reds. And then...the P-MAN!!! whoohoo! 2, count 'em, 2 shots! HE's divine! Have a great weekend!
(((hugs)))

I didn't realize that you thought the grey/tan Sockotta socks were ugly... I love the colors, and after I saw these socks, I figured somewhere along the line (um... after I've used some of the yarn in my overflowing sock stash), I would really have to get myself some.

The socks are beautiful, both pairs!!! And thanks for having two pics of P-Man--he's just adorable! I love it when kitties get into that meatloaf pose!

Love those socks - looks like you might have to think of topping off the sock yarn soon!! Those earrings are just beautiful.

I don't think the gray socks are ugly at all! They're fab, just like the pink ones!

So glad you are happy with your earrings. It was fun making them for you.

Also, you have a sweet phone voice too. ;) Thanks for calling, it was a great surprise!

Love the pictures of Pumpkin and reading about Jaxon. I'm waging a campaign at home to persuade the men in my life to let me buy an Exotic Shorthair kitten at the moment, so until they cave in I have to get my cat kicks vicariously :)

Like the socks too.
