I'm keeping that promise....

I promised I'd return when the vest from hell was finished so I buckled down and gotter done :)

Here she is blocking after a nice bath.....

(click to embiggen as always)

It is a beautiful vest when all is said and done and just what Mom requested. Plus the color is so yummy...she saw me knitting some socks with the same colorway of Louet Gems fingering so I used the sportweight for her vest.

Thanks to tons of redneck engineering I have a finished product I love and that I know Mom will adore but honestly, I made so many mods because of the truly godawful pattern I'm not even gonna link it :(

Now for the fun part....help me choose some buttons!!

Here are the choices:

Despite appearing slightly golden or bronze on my monitor, the center 3 are all silver.

The one on the right is vintage Czech glass, a light steel blue color with dark blue/teal accents

Lastly, the one on the left is also vintage, clear plastic with an iridescent coating.

So choose the button you like best cause I love them all and can't decide!

I asked this guy what he thought.....

But he just voted for chicken!

Can't wait to hear what y'all think!

Stunning! Absolutely stunning!

I personally like the Czech one on the right first, and my second pick would be the one in the middle. It's beautiful though!

I like the button on the bottom the best. Beautiful vest!

Middle row on the right! It's a very nice button. I love the yarn color, too!

Yay for finishing the vest. It looks lovely. I vote for the button directly in the center!

I'm loving the bottom button. It just really stands out to me as the one that belongs on the vest. Lovely work, BTW!

I'm partial to silver buttons, and I like the one on top. But the Czech one on the right has teal accents? I might vote for that one, but I'd have to see it in person. Wanna fly out to SF to show me? Or better yet, mail me the vest and I'll send something along to your mom. hahaha ;) I'm not much help--but all of the buttons are lovely and you won't go wrong choosing any of them.

My kitty votes for Salmon.

i like the bottom one as well.

All of them! Multiple buttons to make the vest as whimsical as it is beautiful.

P-Man's eyes look amazing in that photo. He's so darned pretty! But if you pass on compliments from the blog, please keep his pride intact by saying that I thought he looked Handsome.

i like the middle one too ... and chicken sounds lovely!

The middle one or the bottom one.

Perry P sends a "hai!" wave to the P-man.

Your mother is very lucky; that is one gorgeous vest!

I vote for the button in the center (but I think any of them will look great).

P-man is looking mighty handsome, as usual :-)

Very pretty! I like the bottom button best, with the center one a close runner-up.

Guernseygal said...

Personal opinion, but I like the one in the middle :-)
( PS I like cheicken too!)

Any one of the buttens would be beautiful on this wonderful vest. But I think the middle one is the best for it.

I vote for none of the buttons you show (I'm a pain, aren't I?) but for a totally plain off-white (perhaps MOP) button. The lace is so gorgeous and intricate that I think an ornate button detracts from it.

Gorgeous vest. As for the buttons ... I like the bottom one and the top one. If I really think hard, the bottom one would be my first choice.

I also like the one on the right but I am not sure it would look good on this colour, although my monitor might show colours wrong.

I vote for the one in the center. The vest is beautiful - lucky Mom!

Carole Knits said...

I like the button on the far right. Congrats on finishing the vest!

I like the one on the center bottom ... very classy.

I like the center bottom (silver) button best, followed by the top center button (also silver). The top silver button appeals since its filigree echoes the airiness of the sweater, but maybe that'd be too much openness.

Te-hee! Redneck engineering.

As for the business at hand, I vote for bottom (pewter / silver) or Czech glass with teal.

It's gorgeous Debi - as is everything you make! Your Mom will surely love it! I vote for the one on the right :) Give the PMan my love as always!

That vest is stunning.

While I have to agree with the PMan, chicken is always a choice, I like the bottom button best.

Tuna!

Sorry. Morgana got her paws on the keyboard. The vest is beautiful, and I think it would look lovely with the button on the bottom. The one at the very top is a bit too insubstantial, the ones with more than one color distract from the incredible lace, so I think I'd go either for the middle or the bottom one.

Know what? If you like 'em all, use all of them!It would be so cool

I vote for the vintage Czech glass on the right. I think the subtle color would be a hit with the "vest from Hell".

The P-man looks slightly annoyed, does he not care for the pattern either?

KSee said...

that is really pretty. I like the botton on the right too. Very unique. P-man looks like you woke him up!

Anonymous said...

Beautiful! and the buttons are just amazing - hard to choose - but I like the top one - keeps that lacey feel going.

Alison said...

I like the top one:-)

Carol said...

Me likes the bottom one. The vest is gorgeous and you're a good kid ;-) Chicken~snort~P-man has great taste, but it may look a little funny on the vest!

Beverly said...

i vote for the one on the far right
and so does my dog duke though his second vote was also for chicken

alt.ayu said...

they are all so beautiful!!! I think the Czech Glass one on the right stands out the most and should look stunning on the piece so I'll vote for that~ :)
my dogs and cat also vote for chicken. hehehe

That vest is stunning.

Buttons: for out-standing stand-out distinctiveness, the Czech glass. For something that lets the vest stand on its own, I like the bottom one.

p.s. My dog voted for hamburger.

The vest is gorgeous. I'm sorry it was such a bear. As for the buttons, I'd go for the center bottom or the far right one.

Rhonda the Stitchingnut said...

My first choice is the center one. But I do like the Czech one also. If the blue matches ... I would use that one.

Anonymous said...

Pretty! I like the center one the best!

You get double credit. One point for doing lace with shaping. I can't even handle a rectangle. And another point for going back and finishing a difficult project. That is true dedication!

Stephanie said...

I like the center one and the one just below it. All of them are pretty but the flowers just look so nice :)

Opal said...

I love the vest! I think whatever button you choose from that selection will be beautiful. :)

MRS MJW said...

I prefer the irredescent white on the left. It would really set off the color and pick up your green.

Nana Sadie said...

Definitely the one on the right.
:)
Works with the openwork of the vest...which is lovely!
(smooches to P-Man!)
(((hugs)))

Lorette said...

Lovely vest! I'd pick the Czech glass button.

Lucy votes for tuna.

Lovely job on the vest - sorry it was so poor. As for the buttons, I'd go with the metal ones in the dead-centre.

Jessica said...

Sorry it was such a pain but it sure is beautiful! I vote for the button in the middle. :)

Anonymous said...

Hi Deb! I love the vest. As for the buttons I tended toward the middle one and the one directly below it. Until you said Czech Glass, then I was almost swayed, but I really love that middle one.

Funny, Tigger always says, "Chicken" whenever I ask him to vote on anything, too.

:)

Best regards,
Darilyn

I like the one on the top. The openwork seems to me to reflect the knit pattern

Hey there, I hear it's your birthday. Hope you have a VERY, VERY HAPPY ONE!

(now get back here and tell us which buttons you went with!)

Love the color! Reminds me of the FPS I should work on.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Beautiful vest! Wow! I like the bottom the best then the center one. I also wonder if a plain button would be better as wouldn't take away from your wonderful lace!

Linda said...

Beautiful vest - congratualtions for sticking with it.

I like the bottom button the best.

Anonymous said...

I like the center and bottom ones:)

Anonymous said...

I like the centermost one the best, beautiful vest! What a lucky Mom!

top center lacy button is my vote - lets the lovely teal color thru - and doesn't fight the holey loveliness you created. just beautiful! lucky mom -
