After the party's over....

So another birthday's come and gone...good thing I'm perpetually 29! :)

Thank you one and all for all the wonderful birthday wishes, between here and Ravelry I've never gotten so many "happy birthdays" in my life!

But enough rambling on and on, I know what y'all *really* want...the answer to the mystery of the universe, just how many OPI lacquers does obsessive FKD have?

Well first, here are the birthday knails holding the current SIP, 'Vog On...

Virgin Island Velvet...and to the commenter(s) who asked, if you keep the caps on tightly and store the OPI in a cool, dark place (my closet, my dresser) they can last a LONG time. I have some that are well over 5 years old, maybe closer to 10! (Virgin Island Velvet being one!) and they are just like the day I opened them. Gotta love the OPI huh?

Isn't that a festive birthday color even tho I trimmed my knails a bit?

So now that you know I've been collecting OPI for more than 10 years, you know how some of your weenie guesses just cracked me right up, heh!

Now for some more birthday eye candy, here's a bouquet from the FK Mom...

Isn't she the best Mom?

Now where was I? Oh yes....birthday contest!!

OK, enough teasing...the total mumber of OPI lacquers I posess is....

~~TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO ~~

That means if I was so inclined I could change my polish every week (I'm not) and have no repeats for FIVE YEARS!!

And the winners of the contest...the guess that came closest with their FIRST guesses was TRISH with 243 and the runner up was MEL with 275.

So ladies if you will email me with your addresses, and Trish you get to decide which gift you prefer, I'll get your FKD birthday gifts right off to you!

Now wasn't that fun? Thanks for playing, everyone!

There's been precious little actual knitting content here lately cause I am still slogging thru the Esprit tank but I am just about at the armscythe for the back so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I so want to finish this thing, I won't even *allow* myself to knit on my socks until I do, which is making me a bit nuts, I admit!

I did get a little respite from the tank tho...I signed up for Dish Rag Tag a couple of months ago and despite the fact that I think my team is in last place, I finally got the box! Here's what I got from my upstream tagger...

Of course Mr. Nosey had to check every thing out! Thank you Karen, Pumpkin and I love our surprises and my dishy new dishrag! :)

I'm the last stop for my team so I get to send a dishrag to Emily, the coordinator of DRT. I wanted something different so here's my welcome respite from the Esprit tank...

Say what you will about "warshrag" knitting, but I think they are a fun way to try out different stitch patterns and they make splendid, extra soft and soapy washcloths!

So it's back to the albatross Esprit tank for me, and birthday week is almost over :::sigh:::

I hope to have a finished tank soon and then I promise to lay off the giant projects for a while cause they sure make for boring blogging! (btw, the tank is actually a gift but it's a secret, don't tell, k?)

I'll leave you with another lucky gift recipient and it wasn't even his birthday....

I decided the the P-Man needed a bed of his very own** so I got him one made for up to a 75 pound dog!! (He's about SEVEN pounds) He LOVES it...see?

Granted, it's a bit roomy but I can't get him out of it! I think he looks so cute kinda swimming in the thing :)

I'll share a couple of my most favorite birthday gifts with y'all next time and hopefully have a finished tank too! Til then, have fun and knit lots!

** he's rejected a kitty pi and his previous preferred place of slumber was in my closet on my shoes! Crazy kitty man!

He's too stinkin cute on that bed. And the reason the other beds were rejected? Obviously he is a KING and only a Kingsize bed will do. It's perfect!

That is a LOT of nail polish. Pumpkin looks so cute on his big bed.

The picture of p-man in his bed DEFINES comfort! I think I feel more relaxed just looking at him. Ahhhh......bed....

Alison said...

Darn it, I started to say 250. That'll teach me to be conservative :-)

P-man looks super cozy! My seven pound Shih Tzu's prefered bed is one of those huge adult-sized body pillows folded over. She loves it.

Wow, I'm gobsmacked. But then, like I said, you're talking to someone who has one Opi! By the way, little Ivy missed your birthday by one day. She was due on the 18th, but arrived on the 19th. And I had to laugh at your "warshrag". My mom is from the south and that's the way she pronounces it.

Dave said...

Wow! Don't they dry out or go moldy or start to exhaust fumes after a certain time? :-)

Kristi aka Fiber Fool said...

I would have never guessed they'd keep that long! Of course here we don't have a cool place to store them in the summer since we have no AC and DH would be very opposed to their being in either of our fridges.

I'm glad the birthday wasn't too traumatic.

He looks so happy! I just want to rub that belly.

Wow. That's an awesome nail polish collection. How do you ever decide on a color, never mind find the one you want?

I had a bottle of Virgin Island Velvet - I loved that color more than any other, and for some reason the brush disintegrated into the bottle, and it was never the same after that. Oh, the sorrow!

Glad your birthday was happy!

Wow, you certainly have added "color" to your life, have you not? :o)

I think you nails look rich. The feline of the house certainly has the comfort zone all sewn up.

Hope you enjoy being on the cusp of 30, young lady!

Over 200? That's really a crazy number! Never would I be able to guess that! LOL!
Love this P-Man picture ... he looks so relaxed ... so enjoy his kitty self!

252?? 252?? OMG Woman! I guessed 15. You must have laughed so hard, you probably peed your pants just a little.

I love P-Man in his bed. He looks like the King he is in all his grandeur.

Leslie said...

Ah - the King of King Size! If he ever decides to bring his toys to bed he'll still have enough room.

252 bottles - wow! Are they stored on their sides like fine wines and do you shake them all up occasionally? I really can't imagine that many - of course, I have two bottles of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - one clear, one pearl pink - I'm SUCH a party animal :)

Beth said...

He's relaxing in luxury - he's a smart boy. ;)

Now I understand why you have no problem matching your fingernails with your current knitting project.

How about a picture of the collection? I think we deserve to sse it after you made us guess all those rediculous low numbers.

That is one cute little cat! He looks awesome on that 75 pound dog bed.

Wow, you do have a lot of OPI! I go and have mine done now, I don't do such a great job, and it was funny, looking at your beautiful polish, our nails are very similar in how they are shaped and the finger kind of folds up around the edges of the nail.

Anyway, glad you had a great birthday.

Wow, you are probably the OPI record-holding queen. The OPI folks should give you a certificate or pension or something! :-) (My guess was so low!)

The P-Man looks so relaxed! I may get a similar bed for my kitties, he looks so happy.

Glad you had a good b-day!

Monika said...

I love the P-man picture! I can't believe he's enjoying it like that. This would be a picture for a calendar!
PS I can't believe you have so many OPI (not sure what that stands for).

OMG! That last pic of the P-man made me laugh so hard! He is too cute!
Glad you enjoyed your birthday. :)

Hurray, the package got there!! I hope you enjoy everything - it was fun making it up!! :)

I used to paint my nails a different shade every week before I had kids and the only polish I used was the OPI I imported from the States. My bottles are over 6 years old and most of them are as good as the day I bought them-now that my kids are older I have a wee bit more time for me and my nails so my toes are now colored in the summer.
That bed looks sooo cozy!!!

The P-man looks like he is truly luxuriating himself on the new bed! What brand are the cottons that you received? I like the blue/green, and the green one you received.

I had a nail shop for years, and you may keep polish as long as it is good - the amount of years do not matter as long as they are sealed. Even when I had the shop, I may have only had 350 colors. You have a lot for one gal. Hope your birthday was a happy one!

Gail said...

um, I don't see how the P-man's bed can be too large, it looks only just big enough! lol
Good to hear you had a good week.

Trish said...

Yeah, me!

Wow, that is a lot of nail polish!

twig said...

How cute is he in that bed?! He looks so comfie and it looks so fluffy, I wonder if he could get out of it if he wanted to -- but he looks like he may never want to.

Pman has PLENTY of room to
s-t-r-e-t-c-h out. It's like a kitty king size!

I can't believe you have that many polishes. LOL I have really short nails most of the time. No use polishing them! But, I do like a pedicure. Maybe I'll give color a try next time! Go wild.

Happy belated birthday!!!

Lorette said...

I like the idea of a special OPI award for you. They should create one. Or maybe just a color with your name.
P-man's latest photo is the ultimate cat cheesecake. Remember the Burt Reynold's Cosmo photo*?? That's what he looks like.

*I know, I know, I'm REALLY dating myself with that one.

Where can I find the pattern for the warshrag?? That is so cool!!!!!

Next thing you know he'll have you peeling him grapes!

Romi said...

Oh. My. God. That is the cutest kitty pic ever!

Julie said...

OMG - he's just too damn cute!

Jessica said...

I cannot BELIEVE how much polish you have! You crack me up to no end.
I hope you had a super b-day =)

Nice to see that P-man got out of his bed long enough to insure that your dish rag tag package was safe. A cat's job is never done.

Here from Ravelry:
Happy birthday, indeed! Yes, a very cute picture of Pumpkin!

And you have 252 colors of OPI nail polish. Wow! Your nails look lovely! Do you use nail thinner for the older polishes that get a bit thick? I have some older colors that I use for my toes, and find I have to thin them a bit.

Debi said...

Terri- The cottons are Peaches-n-Cream.

Robin- The warshcloth pattern is one I printed off the net like 5 years ago! It's actually a pattern knit in crochet cotton for snowflakes for an Xmas tree! I tried to google it but I was unsuccessful :(

Hehehhhehhe. That pic of PMan is GREAT!! He soooo looks like he loves his bed and loves being spoiled and loved. Just like he deserves.

Happy belated birthday! Your kitty is so cute on that big bed. Maybe if I got Socks one of those, he's stop hiding under the china cabinet.

Norma said...

WHATTTTTT? I missed your birthday?? Hope it was happy!

Dang it, that's a LOT of nail polish! You must need a whole room for it. And it made it through the hurricane???? !!!

That cat bed is amazing! And he looks like he's in heaven. I think you may have inspired me to make one for our Cat King.
