You should really get the Fuji S3000, it's the perfect camera in every way!!!!

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P73. I purchased mine on ebay, along with the download software for about $225. You can get less powerful models (Jen has the P71, and Junior has the P72) for less than that. You WILL have to get a larger memory stick if you want to take more than 12 pictures before having to download or delete, but again you can get one on ebay for around $20-$40, depending on how large you want it. I LOVE my Sony!

I got a Canon Powershot A400 a few months ago for just under $150. I really like it but I haven't learned all of the extras yet.

I checked reviews for awhile before purchasing it. Try putting a brand and model name into Google with the word review and you might get some useful tips. I guess epionion.com works the same but so many of the models they list aren't sold anymore. :/

I'm happy with my Canon PowerShot A75. My previous camera took excellent pictures outdoors, in full sunlight, but was worthless otherwise.

I love my digital Olympus D-550 Zoom camera. WOW has it been fab since my kids got it for me one Christmas a few yrs ago. No idea what they paid then but they're probably less $$$ now!

you have a very nice blog, however, it would be sooooo much to read if you didnt use black text on a dark grey background, and i wonder why you choose that style?

I have a sony cyber shot dsc-p41 and I LOVE it! I paid around $180-$200 for it. Very user friendly, not too many bells and whistles. I even got an extra memory card free (Best Buy special at the time) Have fun shopping for your new toy!

I have a 5 megapixel Kodak Easyshare (forget the model -- DX something). It's okay but not a great flash and it also tends to focus on the most distant background instead of what's in the central "focal" area (grr); I have to take a long-range shot and just crop it. But the quality is good if you get used to finangling with it. Cost was about $130, refurbished.

One recommendation: Go to TigerDirect.com -- some great prices. The IT guys at my office recommended it to me for computer/camera/etc. tech purchases, and they were right. Great prices and service. No affiliation, etc.

HI there: I have a Kodak Easyshare model 6350 or 6650 something like that - but I paid $199 for it about 2 yrs ago and it's been fantastic - no complaints.

Love our camera but don't remember what we paid for it...so I don't know if its in your price range. We have a digital camera, its a Nikon Coolpix 5700. Takes great pictures and easy to download. That said....this is the only camera I've ever downloaded so....it may not be easy it may just be my inexperience.

I have a Fuji A210 and love it. My father and brother also have Fuji cameras and they swear Fuji is the best. ;-) I hope you find a camera that you love in your prize range.

I have had a couple of Canons & love them. My A95 was just stolen - out of my spare bedroom/computer room - along with my Palm & a lot of jewelry - before I had a chance to learn all its' features. I will probably replace it with a G6 or SD500. I also bought a Canon for my DD (so no excuse for no pix of those adorablr DGS) & gave my A20 to my other DD. SO bought her an A40 when she lost the A20. We have all been quite happy with our Canons. Good picture quality. I have a problem waiting to let the camera focus & so get occasional blurred pix but that's due to years of taking pictures with a manual focus SLR & not Canon's fault. Cicuit City has the Canon PowerShot A510 for under $200. So we have experienced Canons from 3.2 to 5.0 MPs & all performed well. The main difference between them is that you can't enlarge photos taken with the cameras with fewer MPs, esp if you edit them. The less expensive cameras have fewer bells & whistles but that doesn't matter to me (& I suspect many other consumers).

I have a 4.0 megapixel Canon PowerShot and it's been good, but I need something better to take photos of artwork. I might be in the market to sell cheap (bloggie friend discount ;-)) if you're not in a hurry. I'm wanting the 8.0 mp that's out now, but that's a big purchase. I don't know for sure, but in any case I've been happy with it...it's got most of what my slr film camera has, plus capacity for short movie video, etc. Anyway, I'll let you know if I decide to sell it in case you are interested...if not that's cool, too. I might keep it as a second-keep-in-the-car camera, etc. meow!!

I really like our Sony Cybershot...takes great pictures. However I still haven't got the sock close-up shots down pat yet. Thanks for your comment about dad's sock. I'd like to make a pair of hubby and son but they like short row heels. Anyway you can help adapt the pattern for me?
Thanks =)
