We all did such a great job last year the Orphan Foundation of America got TOO MANY scarves!! YAY Knitters! So this year they are asking for knitters to limit themselves to two scarves only.
The amazing Norma of Now Norma Knits has championed this wonderful charity for three years and she's at it again but with a twist!! Because now we knitters can sponsor a scholarship fund too!!

Now for some FKD knitting!
First off, thank you all for the lovely compliments on Bonita! I am very happy with her and I'm glad y'all like her too!
After I fishished Bonita I figured I'd get one more summer top in before the cold weather gets here (hee!) I saw this while surfing around (damn insomnia!!) I think it's really pretty and something that would get a lot of wear in a warm climate...
It's a pattern from Elann, the Esprit V-Neck Summer Tank. It's simple yet attractive, a very easy knit with just enough patterning to keep it interesting, as well as very comfy and forgiving cause it's made with stretch cotton yarn. Altho be advised the pattern only goes to a 36" bust so I had to do some serious upsizing!
I've already knit a good portion of the "front" (both back and front are the same) and here is what I'm using for the trim too:
Of course I'm also knitting socks. Remember the screamingly pink well marinated Elann yarn I was using for the Go With the Flow socks? Well they've gone with the flow right into the trash!! I used the yarn because I loved the bright colorway and the recipient wanted pink but what complete crap that yarn is!! I freely admit to being a total yarn snob and I bought it when I first came back to knitting in 2002 so I didn't really know better but that stuff was beyond bad! It was harsh and lifeless and altho I persevered thru 2/3 of the first sock it was so disgusting I took it off the needles and tossed in right into the garbage and will be donating all the other skeins in my stash! What a waste!
So my knitting supervisor and I went poking around the stash and came up with a much nicer pink alternative....he even helped me wind it, see?

I am the first commentor for once - wheeee!!!! The Louet Pink Panther sock yarn is great, and it looks like it is working up beautifully. I have some of the "beginners' choice" sock yarn in my stash too - sorry to hear that a bad skein jumped onto your needles.
Your supervisor also seems to approve...

One thing you'll never see me post is pictures of my nails - I can't compete with someone who matches their polish to their project! The new tank is going to be lovely. So, what does FKD consider winter weather - when it gets down to a whopping 60? Hee hee!

I was actually getting ready to do a self-manicure and post on the blog - all my nails were so pretty and long. Then one broke. And I'm the type of person that has to cut them all to the same length, sooo... They are getting long again, so maybe soon!
I took one look at the yarn selections for the new tank and went "yummmmmm" - great selection! And I love the way P-Man is helping with the knitting chores. He's such a "man about the house" type of guy...
Stay well and scritch P-man for us please.
Life IS too short for yucky yarn. Glad you've ditched the bad and are now working with the good. Pink Panther + Little Piggy = fabulous.

Love the choice of tank your working on! My cousin made one herself in a light orangy-red cotton yarn, and loves it. She wears it everywhere!
Sorry about the bad yarn. If ya want, I can take it off your hands. I do some simple weaving, and how you described the yarn makes it seem perfect for the project I have in mind.

That tank is going to be beautiful.
I have only recently learned of the stretchy joys of Cascade Fixation (and its Elan distant cousin). I was a bit confused, but quite fascintated. Now I've decided I like the stuff. Its so squishy soft.

Some times you just gotta do what ya gotta do and throw it out. 'Fraid I'm a yarn snob now only in the sense that "if it doesn't feel good in my hands, I'm not knitting with it!" ... so that doesn't necessary mean it can't be cheap. I've donated yarn from my crocheting [afghans] days tho.
The new yarn is so beautiful in it's solid simplicity! It just LOOKS nice and soft.
So, your supervisor keeps a careful eye on your winding too, huh?

And the tank is gorgeous. But what the heck is with designers to stop pattern sizing with 36 inch bust size? That's barely a medium! ;-)
