Secrets, socks and Pumpkin takes a lover!
I was tagged by Catherine for this meme: 5 things in my fridge! I didn't want to list the mundane stuff everyone has so I thought I'd share the unusual. Here are my fridge "secrets"...
1- 12 oz. jar of capers - I love to put these in my pasta sauce!
2- a bottle of concentrated cherry juice - there is something in cherries that is really good for arthritis and because cherries aren't available year round, cherry juice does the trick!
3- A Lemon Pepper cooked chicken from Publix
4- A liter bottle of Bacardi Limon
5- Limes - ALWAYS! Never know when a girl's gonna need a Mojito some knitting water :)
I'm not tagging anyone, if you want to share your fridge secrets, have at it!
Now for the real secret......I can finally reveal the secret beaded gift project!!
You can see it on the lovely recipient here. Go pay Agnes a visit and tell her how beautiful she looks and how gorgeous ALL her knitting is!
I finished the FKDad Trekking socks and I must say I think they look spectacular!
The Trekking just knits up so well!! Here's the sock:
Specs:
Trekking XXL 100gm color #68
2x2 rib, YO short row/mini gusset heel
8sts/inch -- 72 sts on #1 US (2.25mm) metal Aero DPNs
I love how soft and handsome these knit up and I hope my Dad does too!
I neglected to post a pic of the handsome P-Man in my last post and apparently his adoring fans missed their Pumpkin fix so I'm making up for my faux pas by giving you a pictorial of Pumpkin's latest escapade....
A few weeks ago, Bliss lost her precious teacup poodle Bunny but she also got 2 new additions to her family in the form of two adorable puppies. Bliss asked her readers to help her with some names and for all those who participated, she would draw a name and send a yarny prize! Guess who won? Why FKD of course!
Bliss sent me some lovely Wildfoote and Sockotta sock yarn AND a gorgeous skank of the most beautiful, green New Zealand Merino/CASHMERE yarn.
I had the yarn sitting on the couch so I could admire it and of course Pumpkin came over to see what new goodie had entered his domain.....
He begain his kneading *push-push* routine and he was really going at it!
In fact, his ardor became a bit well....vigorous ......
So I took the skank away and placed it on top of my TALL dresser in my bedroom.....
When I came back from the kitchen I found this:
He jumped up on my dresser, grabbed his new love, jumped back onto the couch with her and um, renewed his display of affection!!
I mean, the P-Man's got good taste choosing cashmere but really!! I dunno Bliss, does this make us in-laws in some bizarre parallel universe? hehehe....I was gonna make slipper socks for me out of this but having this yarn on my feet might well send Pumpkin over the edge!! Maybe he'll be the only cat in the world with hand knit cashmere mousies :)
Enjoy your week and to all our Olympians, both in Torino and Knitbloglandia, GO FOR THE GOLD!!!!!

Pumpkin is really showing that cashmere who's boss! I think 1 or 2 cashmere mousies will be made at FKD's - afterall - what P-man wants... LOL
The shawl and socks are beautiful, Deb. And Pumpkin is a hoot. Mason becomes quite enamored of yarn sometimes, too, but always seems to leave it alone once I've knit it up. Hopefully the same will be true in Pumpkin's case.
Pumpkin - how funny. Some of my unspun wool is on the bottom shelf of the bookshelf and my pup burrowed herself a nice little nest in it :)
The shawl is quite lovely and love the socks. I love Trekking!
Nothin' like kitty p*rn in the morn. Hoo hoo! That is so funny Debi! He has exotic tastes in his lovers....
That shawlette is gorgeous, look at all that work! You did a great job. I love your dad's socks too, and I think I may have that colorway stashed away somewhere.
I'd encourage this love affair .... could end up with little cashmere yarn babies soon. LOL.
Lovely shawl! I'm sure it loses something in the translation to picture. There's something about the combination of lace and beads that just begs to be fondled. And cashmere of course. Still waiting on my Trekking - it was just mailed out the day before yesterday. And I'm NOT telling you what's in my fridge. I dunno, but I think it's moving. Dorothy (Missouri Star)
Wow that shawl is fabulous! The beading is amazing. And I love love love those socks. I might just have to make some of my own =)
Pumpkin really has a thing for yarn. I'm pretty sure whatever you make cannot be worn in his presence unless you want to be pealing him off constantly.
Might be time to get a yarn lock box. =)
I just can't thank you enough for this beauty you made for me!
And the socks ... ::sigh:: the colours are so beautiful and they feel so soft in the picture. I believe the haloy fuzziness comes from the mohair content ... and I love that!
And of course ... Pumpkin! He sure is a cat with great taste!
ROFL! No doubt Pumpkin has very good taste in yarn. Face it, we all sort of want to do that when in the presence of cashmere - well maybe not hump it - but roll around in it naked. I'm not sure how this bodes for you making yourself something out of the yarn - perhaps if you made him a cashmere mousie he will leave yours alone?
Inlaws - love it!
uh...I am ALL for "love the one you're with", but perhaps Punkin should be made aware that different species aren't acceptable!! And definetely NOT an inanimate object.
Hee. Good to see that the P-man has found himself someone(thing?) to lurve.
Thanksfully, none of my kitties enjoying making sweet love to inanimate objects.
I love this cat! He clearly needs this yarn, but it may be the allure of forbidden love. Were you to make it into an outright gift, you might spoil half the fun. What a great kitty.
Fabulous knitting as always. And Pumpkin has a very good taste. I just hope that he leaves the yarn alone once you've knitted socks out of it..Maybe i need to pack some kitty surprises for him in the next box that's going out
So glad that our Spike is not the only cat to "fall in love" with an inanimate object. Guess I can officially let that skeleton out of the closet!
Well...I'm sure all of us have had feelings like that towards cashmere at one point or another, we just didn't act on them with as much ardor as Pumpkin ;o)
Wow wonderful socks and very cute kitty. What pattern do you use for your short row heel and mini gusset?
Your shawl is GORGEOUS, Debi! I fell in love with it on Agnes's blog... the beads and colors are so beautiful. Your Trekking socks look amazing, as well- you dad's going to love them! The pretty color transitions remind me so much of Noro, too. And your P-Man, hehe, you can't blame a guy for loving the finer things in life! The man's definitely got good taste! I'm not sure about the socks, though- you may drive the poor guy into a crazed and unrequited frenzy each time you wear them. ;-) Take care, Debi! :-)
Your knitting is beautiful as always. It always makes feel happy and encouraged to read your blog.
The shawlette is gorgeous as are the socks. I too love the Trekking. Pumpkin truly is TOO CUTE!
We've got a Pumpkin too - same coloring and all. Ours is the man of the house - and reminds us often!!!
Knit on
