Now that you're back, here's my story....
Liz is an avid sock knitter too but she had never knit with Mountain Colors Bearfoot which is one of my most favorite sock yarns! I knew her birthday was coming up so I decided to knit her some socks with the lovely Bearfoot.
After much debate, I chose the rich and beautiful Meadow colorway. Now Bearfoot has a high mohair content which translates to less elasticity and memory, or the commonly used technical term "sproing"....hehehe. I wanted some type of pattern that would provide the sproing the yarn itself lacked. I wanted a rib but something more special than a 2x2 or even a mistake stitch. After much thought and perusal of stitch dictionaries I give you
Just in time for summer when cotton socks are all the rage and floppy, saggy cuffs aren't :)
very pretty and SMART! i love the match of stitch pattern to fiber composition, and how you explained it so well to help newer knitters know what to do.

Oh Deb..these are wonderful. I'm just on my second pair of socks and I could even understand the pattern..and wow they are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, I can testify that this pattern is awesome cos I am a test knitter! Hahaha ... and I use high cotton blend yarn and the leg is still very "sproing" ... give it a try, I'm sure you'll like it. :D Am I right, Debi?

ReplyDeleteHelp - when I try to pull up the pattern my comuter says there is some kind of mistake, I use hand spum alpaca/mohair blend for socks - goats make the best rugs and do not wear out, so in socks they wear longer. Would love to have the pattern - and the sprong
